WELCOME TO THE BALLYVAUGHAN FANORE WALKING CLUB WHOSE HOME IS IN THE HEART OF THE BURREN ONE OF EUROPES MOST UNIQUE LANDSCAPES WHERE THE VIEWS HEAL YOUR MIND AND SOUL.
The club was founded and set up in March 2006, and started off with a membership of 13, which has now grown to 130 members. Members are affiliated to The Mountaineering Council of Ireland MCI. Visitors are welcome to walk with us on any of our walks (please read our rules and policy’s) and a fee of €10 will be payable on the day.
While the club enjoys having most of its walks in the Burren we do travel for weekends away, visiting islands off the coast of Ireland or climbing some of the countries highest peaks and mountains and we also organise a trip overseas annually.
This year the Club will also host the Clare Burren Marathon Challenge on May 23rd 2009, . This will be the clubs second time to hold this event which was a hugh success. Attracting almost 1000 participants last year, it promises to be an even bigger event this year on May 23rd 2009.
The club provides members and visitors an opportunity to meet, participate and see the beauty of the countryside and country we live in while out on our different walks. We look forward to meeting you on one of our walks.
